Audio-biography + interviews and a free mini-poster Iron Maiden are a household name in almost every part of the world. After more than 25 years and 50 million album sales, the band are now rightly regarded as the 'classic' British rock band in every sense of the word. 'Maximum Maiden' presents the full unauthorised audio-biography of Iron Maiden from their origins as a bar band in the mid-1970's, trying to keep rock alive in spite of the onslaught of punk, through the mega hits of the 1980's to the present day. Essential listening for every metal fan.
I am a HUGE Maiden fan, I have been for almost three years, I own every single Maiden album, live LP, DVD, I own three Maiden shirts and a hoodie, six posters hanging up in my room, Maiden's Trooper Vans, my ticket from the Edmonton show last year (best night of my life because I saw them live!) as well as several photos and newspaper articles on my wall. And obviously I've seen them live. As you can tell I am quite an obsessive. On top of that I own dozens of rare videos and bootleg recordings of them live, and I've managed to have bumped into Rod Smallwood when I saw them live.I thought this would be a pretty cool thing to listen to since, for one, I am interested in Maiden bio products, and anything Maiden. But when I read the words "Chrome Dreams" at the bottom of the back cover, "Uh-oh" entered my head. I had been ripped off by them before with the Legacy Of The Beast DVD and the 30 Years Of The Beast book (which I didn't think was bad but I still felt ripped off, but I'm still happy I own it). So I swallowed my dumb pride and bought it, Then I listened to it... and I'm still wishing I didn't. The speaker is annoying, she has one of the most annoying voices ever and you can tell she's reading off Cue Cards or something. She sounds extremely bored. And there's this annoying techno music in the background of every track, that repeats OVER AND OVER. It's like listening to a guy's cellphone ring for 80 minutes. Also the snippets of interviews are ones we've heard before in 12 Wasted Years and other reliable sources. THat said, don't waste your money. Watch the documentaries on the live DVDs, they're far more interesting.
