I really like this music of 1970s Supremes. Even though the Supremes are before my time, to me they seem to have grown more as a group after Diana Ross left. Jean Terrell' s voice is like pure soul. Along with original member Mary Wilson and Cindy Birdsong, their voices blend beautifully. Up The Ladder To The Roof and Stoned Love are pretty songs that continues in The Supremes popular sound and style as if Diana could've led them. But songs like Everybody's Got The Right To Love, Breakdown, Together We Can Make Sweet Music they seem to come into their own style. Both Mary & Jean do beautifully on Touch. Their duets with the Four Tops are great. I even like the songs from the cancelled Promises Kept Album like their version of Never Can Say Good Bye & Walk With Me, Talk To Me. Some of these things could have been hits or at least singles. So I think they really got cheated here. Again Mary & Jean both lead on Floy Joy and Automatically Sunshine. Their both good! And the funky soulful touch of Rock Your Wonderful Sweet Sweet Love. I love that song. Then, Jean really shines on Where Do Brown Begin and the beautiful I Guess I'll Miss The Man while Mary shines on I Keep It Hid. I remember reading Mary Wilson's book, which got me more interested in the Supremes. This is when Cindy steps away for a while and Lynda Lawrence comes in on these songs. Then they start to jam on Bad Weather(Lynda is briefly heard coming towards the end). I could play that over a few times. They did do some justice to the O'jays Love Train. Then with Cindy returning and Scherrie Payne joining, they really went to higher heights with He's My Man. I like Bend A Little. Scherrie really shines from this point on. Then, Mary continues to develop with her leads: Don't Let My Teardrops Bother You, Can We Love Again, and Everything To Me. Susaye Greene comes in and lead High Energy. I'm Gonna Let My Heart Do The Walking has a lot of energy to it. I like to play You're My Driving Wheel over and over a lot. The line ups with Jean Terrell has some pretty songs but then, the line ups with Scherrie Payne brought a lot of energy. Susaye Greene brought even more energy to the group and take the group to new heights. It's a shame that they didn't get all the support they should've gotten Mary Wilson, Cindy Birdsong, Jean Terrell, Lynda Lawrence, Scherrie Payne and Susaye Greene. IT would be nice if they can have some reunions.
