It was very easy to set up and worked fine on the first try. I am using it for a blue tooth connection from my phone to my home sound system primarily for listening to audio books, but I does a great job on music as well. It has no built-in volume control; I set the phone sound output to its maximum value and had to crank up the sound system amplifier quite a bit to get the sound level to what I wanted. I have not compared this unit to other blue tooth receivers, but its output level seems lower than I would have expected; I don't know, maybe this is typical of low cost blue tooth receivers. In any case, it is not a problem because there was no noise in its output and my amplifier easily provided the additional boost needed.The unit is small and compact, comes with a USB power module and several cables for connection to 1/8 inch TRS plugs or jacks or to RCA jacks. There is no power on/off switch. The small size of the unit makes it easy to pack for travel.So far I am very happy with it.
