This was one of the last releases on El-P's hip-hop savior label Definitive Jux, and marked the end of a decade worth of amazing music. Not surprisingly, it is a solid release but not the most amazing collection released on the label by a long shot. A reminder of what could've been, however, is Camu Tao's incredible rap/rock hybrid track. He would pass away shortly after this compilation, and El-P would break up the label, sending Aesop Rock to Rhymesayers, and El-P himself to Fat Possum for a solid, but somewhat safe, follow up album.
