Adam SUB 8 Powered 8” Subwoofer The Sub8 Powered Studio Subwoofer from ADAM Audio is a small yet deceptively powerful subwoofer designed to extend the low frequency capabilities of any nearfield monitoring system. The Sub8 houses an excellent 8" woofer with a large 50mm voicecoil, and is driven by a 160W ICE Power amp. This amp stays cool while handling maximum power levels, even if they are sustained. The front baffle features two motorized knobs that let you tailor the subwoofer's input level and crossover frequency settings for the best performance in your studio. These knobs can be controlled with an included wireless remote, allowing you to optimize your sound reproduction from your ideal listening position. The Sub8 subwoofer is an ideal match for ADAM monitors such as the A7, ANF10, P11A, S1A and S2A.
You can't always judge a product by its price, but I knew that I was getting something special by paying over thousand dollars for an 8" subwoofer.I have had many different branded studio monitors, as well as subwoofers. This 8" sub from Adam Audio is one of the cleanest and most powerful subwoofers that I have heard, bar none. I have a large listening room (15 ft. x 25 ft.), and this thing continues to blow me away. It's extremely accurate and very responsive it is. This subwoofer has absolutely no distortion, whatsoever. It delivers deep, low frequency tones with no port noise, nor unnecessary vibration. This subwoofer sounds better than most of the 10"-13" subs that I've owned in the past. Highly, HIGHLY recommend this to any producer or professional listener.I am using this sub with M-Audio BX8 Graphite studio monitors, and boy does this thing bring out the sound stage. I also purchased Focal 6.5 Dual Evo monitors and will be connecting those to this sub as well.Update: Aug 4, 2022 - Using this subwoofer with Focal 6.5 Dual Evos, and my goodness, what a setup!!! This subwoofer is worth every penny!VERY IMPORTANT FEATURE:The sub has a button on the back where if it isn't pressed in, the sub will play the lower frequencies (whatever you have set the crossover setting to), and the studio monitors will cover the rest of the frequency range. Sounds like a typical subwoofer, right? Well, there is another wonderful feature...If you press that same button in (indicated as "Flat"), it allows you to run the studio monitors with FULL range. It's a bypass feature that allows your studio monitors to really shine. Your monitors will play all frequencies. This is great if you own monitors with 6.5" - 10" drivers. With the button pressed, the sub still delivers the frequencies you have set on it's built-in crossover, but your monitors get to open up to their full range as if you had no sub connected.2 ways to connect this subwoofer with studio monitors:1) I use an audio interface (Audient ID22) that has 2 sets of outputs. I use one of those set of outputs to send the signal from my audio interface to my studio monitors (TRS 1/4" to Male XLR), and the other outputs from the interface to the sub's left and right XLR connection (TRS 1/4 to Male XLR). This way, my monitors don't even get connected to the sub. 1 clean signal from my audio interface goes to the sub, and another clean signal from the interface goes to the studio monitors. This option is for people who are picky with sound and want the absolute, most cleanest signal, untouched for each output.or2. You can connect your monitors directly to the sub. Make sure you by a long XLR cables for your connections, because you may want to move your sub around the get the cleanest and most accurate sound possible.I highly recommend this sub to anyone that is serious about sound quality.
