Gustav Mahler Symphony No. 4 CD - Kathleen Battle Soprano & Lorin Maazel Conducting - Classical Music for Relaxation, Study & Home Listening

Maazel blew hot and cold--in fact, mostly cold-- on Mahler. This, though, is the exception. It sounds plush and Viennese when it counts, and Battle might give the best performance of all in the concluding movement. I think it's one of the better 4ths and wouldn't think of being without it. Gatti, Bernstein/Sony and this one are 3 4ths to be reckoned with!
