Having originally been trained as an audio engineer many years ago, and loving my vintage Technics hifi setup, on a recent visit to our local local household recycling site, or tip in other words, I found, and duely purchased an immaculate pair of Monitor Audio Bronze 1 speakers for the absolutely astronomical sum of £5??.Obviously as they had been dumped, ready for recycling, I had no idea if they were dud or not but thought it was worth a try and speakers can always be fixed if they don’t work anyway, ( actually so can most things, I used to do it for a living once, but it’s only speakers that can be purchased from the tip as they are classified as safe to reuse, whereas no other electrical items can be removed from there and go straight into the skip. Sadly this includes a lot of perfectly good stuff which is either working fine or could be easily fixed, but for obvious safety reasons they have to be destroyed).So what has this got to do with this fabulous little amplifier?Well when I got home and checked over the speakers cosmetically, I realised that other than my beloved Technics gear, I had nothing else to test my new speakers with anymore, and local online searches for used gear came up with nothing suitable.I then looked for a new one and up came this Doug Audio M100 and I got tempted to give it a try.Well the speakers work ok!! And what a fantastic combination with this amazing amplifier.Fantastic, crisp, clean sound without a hint of noise or distortion, and plenty of power in reserve if I ever feel I need it, but I am not in the habit of overdriving or pushing any equipment ( so I stopped before the first yellow mark on the volume dial which is actually 15, so gone are the days of going up to 11?, and I have been listening very comfortable at 5).I have been using Bluetooth with a wide selection of tracks from my Xaiomi phone ( another great buy from here) and it has all been brilliant.Plenty of connection options and switchable inputs, plus screw posts with banana sockets for the speakers, and an external power supply, headphone socket, line out and a usb.The only adjustable dial is the volume, no eq or shaping at all, but they really aren’t needed and certainly with the speakers I tested it with, the quality is fabulous.Love it!!
